shapeshifting into a hawk
I long to change as I please
and feel the cool winter breeze
flow across my wings.
The pain that constantly stings
within me until I change.
When my thoughts become collided and strange,
and I see things in a whole new light.
Waiting 'til I can take flight
so thoughts blend with sight.
Longing to change and be free,
golden wings spread so all can see.
Welcoming the release from my past form.
When creatures need not travel in a swarm.
And finally focusing on my surroundings, the bright sky
and the light blue and white clouds rolling by.
Never knowing where I'm heading
just letting go of directions to let my body start sensing.
Wind, air, and rain ruffling my feathers,
while I'm searching for my kinsmen, my sisters and brothers.
Until I'm exhausted and left with nothing.
Arms and legs returning with my human breathing pace,
and thinking ~Even with this gift I'm cursed I will never belong~
