Imitation isn't for me.
Give me life,
         the real, vital thing
         full of laughter, love, losses.
Imitation isn't for me.

Give me laughter,
         even if tears threaten
         now and then among the chuckles.
The joy outweighs all else.

Give me love,
         even if pain and hurt
         hide within my mind and soul.
The passion is worth the price.

Yes, even give me losses,
         for though my heart breaks,
         I know I feel, endure, respond.
Please, God, I simply want to live.
