When the one you love is lost in the depths of depression.

As darkness wraps you in its pain
and I reach for you through constant night
a candle flickers, then dies again.

The weight of sadness seeps like rain
into your soul ‘till you can’t fight
and darkness wraps you in its pain.

I fear I search for you in vain
then glimpse your face in fleeting light
as a candle flickers, but dies again.

My bed is cold where you have lain,
where once your touch did so excite.
Now your darkness wraps me in its pain.

Though silence spreads its creeping stain
between us like an evil blight
a candle will flicker, then die again.

A lonely vigil I maintain
and watch you, helpless in your plight
where darkness wraps us in its pain
and candles flicker and die again
