What is popular is not always right and what is right is not always popular.
One Thousand lives are hurt every day,
As a result of what their “friends” say.

While the coolest of men sing about juice and gin,
A thousand will follow for a chance to fit in.
Another thousand perhaps never listen to rap,
But at church in the back make fun of the blacks.
Here a thousand young boys are trying to impress one another,
By disrespecting young girls and being rude to their mothers.
A thousand more teens think they’re Steve Urkel the nerd,
So they skip school, join the circle and get high as a bird.
For fear of losing popularity they’re scared to take a stand,
This is not a single rarity, there’s at least a thousand.

But one little boy, because his friend begged him to,
Goes to church Sunday night and sits down in the pew.
Then the preacher stands up and tells a sad story,
There are spears, whips and spit, it’s bloody and gory.
A man hangs on a cross yet His love’s not diminished,
He forgives His executioners as He gasps it is finished.
Yet His death had a purpose for all who are livin',
That by grace they are healed and their sins are forgiven.
And because the boy’s friend used peer pressure right,
The little boy hit his knees and accepted Jesus Christ.

And so dear reader this poem sends out a message:
What the human race needs is more positive peer pressure.
