Hope continues even when many think it should be dead.
Hope

A tree, cleaved in half,
Starkly stands beside the road.
Branches that once proudly
Reached for the sky
Now morosely drag the ground.
Still buds of life struggle to survive,
As does the man,
Bowed low with age and care,
Fight his battles
With strength of courage rare.
