sometimes it's hard to understand without going through it yourself
I never understood
Wanting you mom
Until I cried for her
But she had already left

I never understood
The pain of being hit
Until the first night, I was beat
But how can I blame my dad

I never understood
Cutting your own flesh
Until I did… once
But then I couldn't stop

I never understood
Why people ran away
Until I planned my escape
But I'm still here

I still don't understand
How people lived through it
Until I did
But now ill make my beautiful future
