The poem delves into the theme of a man who declared his love for me, to avoid loneliness.
To the man who deceived his own heart.

Lie to me once more, as you do with such ease,
Whisper sweet nothings, even if they're just words to you,
Gaze into my eyes, tell me all I desire to hear, just to keep me near,
You continue to play with my heart like this,
Unconcerned with the chaos you create,
Reluctant to fulfill my needs, yet resistant to let me go to find them,
Your declarations of love have lost their weight,
Struggling between being what I need and what you claim not to believe in,
In time, he forgot it was all meant to be a charade,
His actions had already said out loud what he was trying to hide,
Afraid of solitude, though he has known it before,
He simply cherished being adored,
Not loving me, but my longing to be loved,
Haunted by the fear of never being cherished, as I've known neglect before,
He would be adored but not bound by love,
I stay bound by my own fear of remaining unloved.
