Of Regret and Folly

If I could travel through the skies
to where the heavens hold
my regrets and my follies,
I’d enter that grand expanse,
slipping past the timekeepers
that guard the memories of my mistakes
and steal back a single moment.
Holding it in my palms
I’d cut through time and space
to when my impetuousness
and capriciousness
made a mockery of your desire
and drove you from me;
this time I’d reach out to you,
with a humble, trembling hand
and accept the grace of your love.
And in that expanse of the heavens
where the timekeepers dwell,
my regrets and my follies
would be no more.
