I wanted to write a traditional themed Tanka but this is what came out.


If Only I Knew


I wish I had known
Of my mother's core demons.
Our same damages
prevented trusting, caused pain.
I hope she can hear my prayers.


WE gave away love
to anyone who wanted,
constructing fake us,
building defensive stone walls.
I hope she can hear my prayers


We could have shared pain
from our many bad choices,
creating a bond
between mother and daughter.
I hope she can hear my prayers.
