Teamwork?

“Derick?”

“Yeah?” Derick called.

“I can’t see anything out this porthole…” Andrea said.

“It’s space Andrea, there’s nothing to see.”

“I know. I mean there’s literally nothing, no space, no nothing! Like someone threw a black cloth over it.”

Derick pulled his head out, whacking it. “What?”

“Look!”

Derick looked, “Yikes!” he said, running to the next porthole, “This one is fine…”

“Do you think something got stuck over here?”

“Like what? We’re in space!”

“Fine!” Andrea said, tired of being treated like an underling by Derick, “You’re apparently on top of this!”

“Sorry! I didn’t mean to sound like that. How about shutting the outside cover, then, after it’s sealed, open this one and find out what the issue is?”

“Isn’t that dangerous since we have no idea what we would be sealing in with us?”

“Good point… Well, we’ll have to seal the outside and just do without that port until we land at Preamus.”

“Better.” They got busy.

Outside the window, Andreath felt something tickle one of his feet. He quickly lifted it, saving it from the metal shield going over the porthole.

He hadn’t realized this was such a different kind of perch. He thought it was just nicely knotty, good for the rest he sorely needed on this trip. Looking it over, he decided to stop and rest here. He liked it.

Shrinking down to sleep-mode, he curled up around the now completely covered porthole for a little rest. Which in Klaxon, usually equaled about three months.

Inside, job done, Andrea and Derick were resting.

“This will make a great story when we land next week!” Derick said, excitedly.

“We’ll see,” Andrea said, keeping her opinion to herself, but counting the minutes until this particular mission, and her ever working with Derick again was over.
