Snotlout can sew, and Hiccup’s thrilled.
Snotlout can sew and enjoys it. Spitelout considers it beneath him, and Snotlout hides his liking of it. Snotlout’s mother Blister reminds him there are no women in Haddock House, and he may be expected to do women’s work.

After moving in, Snotlout says nothing about his abilities, but Hiccup finds him sewing, and is excited. Finally, someone who isn’t winging it, like Hiccup does, but knows stitchery. Snotlout is surprised and pleased. He’s still not sure how Stoick will feel, but Hiccup appreciates him. Hiccup, in return, shows Snotlout cooking skills. They wind up bonding over these tasks, and grow closer as a family, esp. when Snotlout learns about Grandma Ragna’s kitchen book.

Headcanon: Hiccup’s Grandma Ragna had a kitchen book, and one day when Hiccup is cooped up and bored, Stoick allows his son to have something from Stoick’s “Chest of Treasures,” his personal items that are usually shut away. Hiccup is about 5-6 when this happens. Hiccup learns to cook using this book and some instruction from women of the tribe.
