A short poem
Against the Wall

I sleep against the wall
because it treats me the way
the world treats me
cold & uncaring
hard & un-comforting
I know what it will yield
nothing
I know what it will do
nothing
It is more truthful
than the reality
in which
I survive
So I stay
against the wall
it is my shelter
my shield
