Emotional decomposition
Dark forces shadow our Souls
They nibble at the edges
Tearing away delicate morsels
of Hope
of Trust
of Believing
in the Magic and the Mystery.
They spit their mouthfuls of
Masticated goo
Into the corners of our Hearts
Where it Rots
Putrescent
They lay their eggs to hatch there,
These writhing larvae named
Fear and
Anger and
Mistrust
They leave their slime on everything they touch
Turning the green leaves of our Spirit into
Brown lacework of Decay
Until they spin their cocoons and
Dissolve into genetic soup,
Then -metamorphosis.
They spread dark wings
To soar into the endless night
Which shrouds our secret selves.
