This is about a physically abusive relationship based on drugs I recently got out of
Words bristled with resentment even under the sun.
A knife to your throat, and to your forehead a gun.
At night you lie in the Devils arms where you feel safe at last.
You never shed tears with eyes forged of iron.
Your heart is one made with the mane of a lion.
But you left your sacred soul in the clouds because home was in heaven, and in hell rests your throne.
You said you felt sick so we turned off the lights and let your mind roam.
In a house built with bricks we never felt so tall;
Looking down to the dirt and knowing where we would fall.
Ambition and restlessness flooded our minds;
Every time our hearts stopped, we learned how to shine.
When did the diamonds leave your bones?
Adrenaline and danger are so familiar that routine makes you tremble.
You're dying to live the way you raised yourself to.
Making a pathway for something new.
Heaven's in your laugh and hell's in your veins.
You found safety somewhat strange, and anything organized had to be rearranged. Changing your name to match with the day;
Ignorantly giving your character away.
You found the beauty in fear, and were detached from faith.
It wasn't until you could see in the dark that you truly felt safe.
Looking for pain as a replacement for love, because all that you knew was bruises and blood.
Strength was disvalued and thrown to the rug.
You learned how to fly over all broken glass because the tiny shards grew into you fast.
You've been cut shoved and burned but your loyalty stood tall.
Reminding yourself who you were above it all.
Flashbacks and tremors stick close toyour side,
Never failing to attach terror to your mind.
Scars from your past tell stories at last
The day you flew away from the broken glass.
Your hopes will collide, as will fear coincide
But your guardian angels will not leave your side.
Stand tall in your name, and forget not the day
That a gracious fate took you out of harms way.
