This is the fourth (and favorite) in a sequence of odes.
Ode IV

With what words do I describe her hair
Interwoven with silk and her perfection?
And eyes like tranquil stones
Are polished and shine with my reflection.
Her features are written with the deftness of air
And her purity of self is clearer than light.
What artist can create such harmony of tones?
The exuberance of day! The softness of night.

If she would radiate her charm on me
Then I would fill her lips with praise.
There is a timelessness to love, it is unreal,
And creation is pierced by her gaze.
Oh how she twirls her hair coquettishly
Making light the burden of each strand!
Strands like light that I will never feel
Flowing freely through my hand.
