A monument to lost love. (Form: Onzain Neerlandaise)
Legacy

I have witnessed subtle changes over time
in the way we talk and live our lives apart;
did indifference change “we” to “you and I?”
We are like statues in the park, without heart
to feel or warmth to share, asking of the sky
questions that we are afraid to have answered.
We have become stone as we watched our love die,
mouthing empty phrases that were never heard.
Death’s poetry contains no reason or rhyme.
Our legacy is words lost along our path
inscribed on our love as a last epitaph.
