Poem about being shy with a girl I used to know
Through my mind’s eye you said “Yes”
I’m holding on to that thought
Though I fear the probability of success
Is possibly not a lot
I’m holding on because I… I just want to hear
Your heart beat in time with mine,
I need you near
And I’m tired of all the pine
There needs to be a way to start over
Rethink, re-meet, create a do-over
Or maybe I should pluck a clover
And make a wish, but that’s not me.
I’m real and live in reality
I want what I get, or what I earned
And I’m sometimes foolish to forget what I’ve learned
I learned I have nothing to fear,
And shouldn’t fear even if I could
Because I am impossibly good
I’ve earned the first loss of chance with you
But I refuse to believe there is no chance
For try number two
So when next we meet, I will ask you to dance
With the idea, you will say “Yes”
And nothing less
