For a family member who was addicted....
ADDICTION

The face looking back at her
Was not the face she wanted to see
It was full of hurt, bitterness and anger
She wondered how this could be.
She washed her face
Hoping to wash all the ugliness away
She did not want to be in this place
She only wanted happiness to stay
Yet she put the blame for her addiction on all kinds of things
Lack of help, lack of understanding and utter aloneness
Never stopping to realize that these are the lies the demon brings,
Making it almost impossible for the truth to exist.
She needs to get up and put up a fight
Against this battle until the bitter end
She has to struggle with all her might
Until she finally does win.
She has to realize a war is going on
And face up to harsh reality
That after all is said and done
The truth is all there is to see.
She can lie to one and to all
And deny until the earth does finally end
But all that can happen is that she’ll stumble and fall
And true hell begins.
She should just surrender to what is faithful and true
And let what will be just be
This one thing is all she has to do
Then she truly will be free!
