A rather dark poem based on a number of things both real and fantasy.
My child you are in danger

Beware of the beautiful stranger

He says little but hides much

Has you straining for the slightest touch

My child your life is at stake

I fear the choice you will make

A wolf on the prowl he shows no fear

His true intentions never truly clear

You’d best run while you can.

Run from the snake in the skin of a gentleman

My child do you see his fanatical stare

There is no trust with him my child beware

He says pretty words and hides a sneer

He is the wolf, you are the deer

My child you must run

Lest your days free be done.

A wolf on the prowl he smells your fear

Slowly hunting, teasing the deer

You’d best run while you can

Run from the snake in the skin of a gentleman

I sit at my daughter’s wedding in the front row

The rest smile but only I know

She is married to the worst of men

Now she will see his true skin

It breaks my heart but she would not listen to me

She wore the white gossamer gown trading her labor and leisure for civility

The wolf has caught his dear

Now admiration turns to fear

She wishes she would have ran

Ran from the snake that is now her husband
