This story is about 3 Teen girls that have jobs as detectives in High School.
THE UNRAVELING SECRETS

Prologue:
Three sleek SUVs race down the street, red and blue lights brightening up the night. They stop at a crime scene, yellow tape surrounding the perimeter. Police cars were scattered along the street. A long black-haired girl steps out of a SUV with a silver briefcase. Another girl steps out of the second SUV with dark-brownish hair, also with a case. Finally, from the last SUV a blonde-haired girl comes out with a case. “What’s the situation?” the brown-haired girl says to a nearby Police officer, showing her badge. “An animal of some type ripped up this lady,” the police officer said, not very professionally, “She was in her mid-twenties, and someone identified her as one of their agents. There is also a lot of blood, house was trashed, as if maybe the “criminal” was looking for something.” the officer finished. The girl nodded. “The scene is ready for you, Ms. Callahan.” The officer called while walking away to talk to someone else. As all three of the girls walked into the crime scene they all looked at each other questionably. They all look about the same age. The black-haired said, “Who are you?” “Agent Rosalinda Delgado, Medic.” The blonde one said while leaning over the body. The brown and black haired girls had a stare off until the brown haired one said, “You first.” The black-haired girl ticked annoyingly and said, “Rain Watashiba, specialty is snooping and breaking into things. “Now you missy.” “Agent Zayln Callahan, Computer and Forensic Sciences.” She said walking around the room. “Wait I got something.” She said, putting on some latex gloves. She grabbed a q-tip from her case and swabbed some blood. “From the looks of it, it isn’t the lady’s blood since it was too far from the body.” Rain said with Zayln nodding in agreement. “When we get back, I’ll take this to the lab and run it through CODIS.” Zayln said with the others in agreement. Meanwhile Rosalinda gathered some fibers along with dark hair from the body. “These hairs aren’t hers because she is a red-head, neither are the fibers because she is wearing white not black, and none of the furniture is black in the house.” She said, looking at the other girls, who were nodding. “Also she looked like she was being strangled by the murderer while he was ripping her up.” Rosalinda said, titling the head from side the side showing the bruising marks that look like fingers. She sighed, “Whoever the “criminal” was he was not human.” She clarified. “What do you mean by “Not human”? Zayln asked as there was a crash in the distance. It sounded like a trashcan; the girls ran to see what it was. They went out to the alley where they saw a man cursing at the trashcan for blowing his cover. “A.P.I!” Rain yells. The man turns around fast, his shirt covered in blood; definitely a suspect. The man turned and dashed down the alley heading for the far corner. “Stop!” Zayln yells, and when he doesn’t she runs after him. As they ran down the street Zayln’s breath got shorter and faster. Long sharp silver knives came out from under Zayln’s jacket. When she got close enough to touch him all of a sudden he was twenty-feet away from her and not a man anymore, he was an animal and it kept running. Zayln stopped in shock. “What was that?” Rosaline asked, just as the creature was disappearing out of sight. “Forget about that, look at this!” Rain said, pulling up Zayln’s arm and showed the knives to Rosalinda. She gasped. The knives were not your everyday knives. These knives came out of Zayln’s skin. Zayln looked at the ground like a little kid who got in trouble while Rain and Rosalinda said, “What are you?!”

CHAPTER 1
It was a cold, winter morning. Rain was walking to school in black pants, white polo shirt with a red tie and converse while listening to music. A boy with skater-boyish hair stepped out in front of her. “What Kazuma?” she asked. “Wanna walk to school together?” he said. “Is that ok, I mean that you’re the almighty student council president and you want to hang out with the worst student ever? That ought to be a nice thing for people to laugh about.” She kept walking until Kazuma yelled out, “Amaya!” She turned around and yelled at the top of her lungs, “DON’T CALL ME THAT!” As she walked up to him, her phone started to vibrate in her pocket. She got it out and noticed it was her friend Zayln. She ignored it and continued walking to school. Kazuma just stood there looking dazed, as if he just lost one of his battles for the first time.
Meanwhile, Zayln and Rosalinda were driving a classic 1969 red Camaro into the Walkman High School’s parking lot. “So you think we’ll do well here? I mean with the thing about controlling your powers?” Zayln said to Rosalinda not taking her eyes off the road. “Z, I’ll try but I want to see Rain, I miss her so much!” “Rose, I hope you can handle it after we see the principal.” Zayln and Rosalinda got out of the car, walked out of the parking lot and asked for directions to the principal’s office. The person they asked called over a set of twins. “This is Xavier and his brother Matt. They are part of the diplomacy committee.” “Hello, I’m Xavier Marcus and you are?” “Zayln Callahan.” “I’m Matt!” Matt said, stupidly. Rosalinda laughed softly so nobody could hear, except Zayln, because she had very acute hearing. “We’ll show the way, this way please.” Xavier and Matt showed them what was what and when they got to the administrative building, principal Walkman was waiting for them. “Welcome Ms. Callahan and Ms. Delgado!” “I prefer to be called Zayln.” “I also prefer to be called Rosalinda.” “Of course, my bad. Please come into my office.” After the principal closed and locked the door they all went in and the three went and sat at the appropriate places. “So you blew up your headmistress and almost sliced her to pieces. This ought to be fun. I think your friend, Rain, is also here.” Mr. Walkman said. “Rain’s here?! I didn’t know that.” Rosalinda said, excitedly. “My expectations for you are to finish make-up work on time, make-up your missed tests and finish any other work needed. I also understand that you all tend to have long investigations, but they must now be no longer than 3 weeks.” Zayln interrupted, “If you know about our cases, then you should know that-. “ “Yes I know that you are mutants. I used to be part of the CIA and I heard about adults becoming mutants, but this is the first time I have heard about children being mutants. Your friend, Rain is three or four years younger than you.” He said. Both Zayln and Rosalinda looked at each other and said in unison, “I thought she was 16 or 17?” “Well off you go to your buddy or your classes.” Zayln and Rosalinda left looking puzzled when they heard a familiar voice yelling, “What the hell?! Stop following me!” “I’m not; I go the same way as you, stupid.” A guy said. “Still, 24 meters away from me, k? Or can you not count that high yet little boy?” “Little boy?! Oh, now you have done it! Come here!” Kazuma ran up to Rain and picked her up. “Kazu….Ka….Kazuma! Put me down!” Rain screeched. “Rain!?” Zayln and Rosalinda said at the same time, almost turning their heads upside down in an attempt to see Rain’s face. “Put me down you idiot!” “President!” Xavier and Matt both yelled in shock. “See, now this is all your fault!” Rain said. Kazuma put Rain down and went towards his friends, apologizing to her. Him and his friends left. “Hey, what are you doing here?” Rain giggled, trying to be serious. “So, that’s why you don’t come to school with us, you have a boyfriend!” Zayln said, pointing to Rain as if she were a criminal. “Are you nuts?! If I were dating Kazuma I would be a “goodie-goodie too shoe” rather than “The queen of all Demonic Delinquents”.” “So that was…”Rosalinda asked calmly. “It’s my childhood friend, Hananori Kazuma, or in English it’s Kazuma Hananori. He’s also the student-body president.” Rain explained. “So how?” “I don’t know. So let’s see your schedules.” Rosalinda and Zayln handed their schedules to Rain and she said, “We need to be careful though, especially if we’re at a normal school.” Zayln and Rosalinda both looked at Rain with questionable looks on their face. Rain looked up from their schedules. “What?” Zayln and Rosalinda both looked at each other but then shook their heads. “Nice try. What’s up?” Rain asked, lowering the pieces of paper in her hands. “We heard from the principal that you’re like four years younger than us.” Zayln said not looking her in the eye. Rain stared at them. “You think that’s a bad thing? I’m just smart that’s all, nothing bad. Sheesh.” She said. “Come on; let’s get you to your classes.” Rain started walking towards the Junior Building. Zayln and Rosalinda followed behind her. Rain led them to a class room with a sign above the door that said, ‘508 PAP Physics, Mrs. Toscano’. “Here we are, enjoy!” Rain said, walking away. “Wait, where are you going?” Rosalinda asked, turning around. Rain looked back. “I don’t have a class first period, so I might go to the park, beat up some boys.” She shrugged, smiling. She turned back around and started walking again. Rosalinda turned to Zayln and they both rolled their eyes. It was the first day that they have seen Rain in a while and she was already ditching, sorta. They looked at the sign of the classroom again then Zayln knocked on the door calmly. A few seconds past and then a young woman that looked in her early-twenties opened the door. “Hi there! You must be the new students that Principal Walkman mentioned. He said you might be late. Come on in!” she said, a little cheery. She glided back into the room and the girls followed slowly. They never really like being the “new kids” they never liked being called that either. It made them feel even weirder than they already were. “Class! We have two new girls in our class. Please let Ms….,” the teacher paused to look down at the schedules,” Zayln and Ms. Rosalinda feel welcome and comfortable at our school.” The teacher announced. “Now I heard that your latest school was covering the same material we were so you do not have to catch up as fast.” The teacher said to us. She assigned the girls seats, which were right next to each other; and luckily in the back too. “She seems nice.” Rosalinda whispered to Zayln as they copied the notes on the dry erase board. Someone tapped Rosalinda’s shoulder from behind. Both Rosalinda and Zayln turned around to see a familiar face; Matt. “I wouldn’t be so sure. If you get her real mad, she can get a little pushy and a little rude.” he whispered, smiling a crooked smile. Zayln looked at Rosalinda and she saw a tiny little bit of blush rising in her cheeks. She giggled to herself and turned back around when the teacher cleared her throat. She elbowed Rosalinda so she would turn around too. Zayln and Rosalinda heard Matt chuckle from behind them. Zayln turned her head back around after the teacher drew her attention to something else. She glared at Matt and that shut him up. She smiled to herself and turned back around. She rolled her eyes; Boys. The girls never really paid attention in the class. They were already taught this material in the agency, they had to or else they wouldn’t be able to do the investigations. But they had to go to school and “learn” the material or else, no badges; and no badges meant no investigators. And the fact that they weren’t adults yet, they had to go to school either way… It sucks.

The next class was Algebra 2 with Mr. Summit. He was pretty boring, and was one of those teachers that make you introduce yourself. No one laughed, it just felt weird, and of course that feeling wasn’t new to the girls but still. They just sat there, sometimes not even talking or paying attention to each other. They mostly just stared at the board, tapping their pencils on the desk. Zayln heard a cough, a cough that was meant to get some ones attention. She turned around. Xavier was behind her, why is it that the head people of the school are in the classes with the bad kids. “What?” Zayln whispered annoyed. Xavier looked disappointed. “I was just gonna ask you to stop tapping your pen. It’s kinda annoying.” Zayln turned back around, but kept tapping her pen, ignoring his comment. “Please.” Xavier said reaching over her shoulder and grabbing her hand, making the pen slip through her fingers and onto the desk. She accidently let a growl slip from her lips. She turned her face to look at him, and his face was pretty close to hers. She started to feel her face get hot. She turned her face back fast, and said, “Fine.” And when he started to sit back down she swore she heard him say, “Feisty girl. Sheesh.” She smiled to herself. She knew she was feisty, and she liked being so although it may have its disadvantages. The rest of the class the girls finally got out of their mute stage and started talking again, without the urge of tapping their pen or pencil. Although they got in trouble for laughing too loud; but other than then that the class was ok.
Then the class that most teenagers hate and dread; Physical Education since the girls aren’t your average teens, it might be different for them…. When the tardy bell rang everyone quieted down, for the teacher, Mr. O’Connor (but he likes to be called Coach), looked like he was gonna blow a gasket. Once everyone quieted down, which took about 5 minutes, the coach spoke with a booming voice, “Now that all you rodents have shut-up, I have some announcements to make.” The gym was quiet; all you could hear was echoing footsteps from a wandering student across the gym floor. If everyone were outside you would wonder where the tumbleweed was. “Look around at your enemies. Take a good look.” The coach boomed. Everyone looked around, not knowing why they had to do so. “There is a piece of paper with a name on it under your bums. That name will be your enemy for the year.” Everyone groaned; you know how teenagers are, always wanting to be with their friends. Rosalinda and Zayln looked at each other. They both sighed and Rosalinda, who has always been the good girl, reaches under the bench to grab the slip of paper. Rosalinda’s paper said ‘Matt Marcus’ in a scribble font that is barley readable. She sighed, why she was always stuck with him she didn’t know; but yet again, he was kinda cute to her. Matt was always her partner in every class so far. Rosalinda waved a weary bye to Zayln and walked over to Matt, who had a paper with her name on it. Zayln didn’t pick up her paper; she didn’t want to do it. Zayln has trouble interacting with people. She never had many friends, now the only ones she had were Rain and Rosalinda. Coach looked over at Zayln. He looked down at his clipboard then back at Zayln. “Ms. Callahan, why aren’t you doing what you’re supposed to?!” his voice boomed. His voice made her head hurt. She looked up at him with a dark look, thank god she had some kind of bangs covering her eyes or else she might have gotten slapped. She sighed loudly and picked up her paper angrily. She heard Coach growl under his breath. She looked at the paper. ‘Xavier Marcus’. She looked around the room, she didn’t see him anywhere. “Ms. Callahan, what’s the hold up?!” She cringed. She turned around to face Coach. “I can’t seem to find my “enemy” ”. She said, using a sarcastic tone. Coach walked over to her, pointing a fat finger in her face; nearly touching her nose. “Don’t smart mouth me missy or you’ll get a week of detention with me. How would you like that?!” She looked at him with a strong but lenient stare. “Not very much.” She grumbled. He moved away and pointed in the far top right corner of the benches. Xavier was leaning against the wall with his feet on the bench. Seeing how he didn’t pick up his paper either. Zayln sighed looking back at Coach. He just stared at her, “Hurry it up, your holding up the class!” She stepped to each bench slowly, just to piss off the Coach. “Now, just to let you know Ms. Callahan, you are now my second least favorite student!” he shouted, just so everyone can hear. Now that Zayln finally got to the bench; Xavier didn’t move his feet. She cleared her throat. Nothing. She cleared her throat louder. Still nothing. “Excuse me.” She said, an annoyed tone in her voice. He looked up, startled. Zayln noticed he had headphones in his ears “Oh, sorry.” He said moving his feet, and leaning his head back against the wall. Zayln sat down. She got bored of listening to the Coach blabber on and on. She pulled out a book. She heard a chuckle from next to her. She looked up from her book. “What?” she asked. “You always pull out a novel at times like this?” Xavier mumbled. “Yeah.” She said, shrugging. The room had that awkward silence time again. “Ms. Callahan thanks for volunteering! You’re up first!” Coach’s voice shattered the silence; the beautiful silence. “To do what?!” Zayln whispered frantically. “He wants you to throw the football, to see how far and hard you can throw it.” Xavier said calmly. “Any day now, Ms. Callahan!” Coach’s voice boomed again. “God I’m going! And I have a name you know!?” Zayln shouted back. Coach smiled evilly. “Oh yeah? And what name might that be rat?” “Zayln, Zayln Callahan. Not rodent, not rat and not Ms. Callahan. Just Zayln!” Zayln said fiercely. Coach didn’t say a word; he just fumed with anger and pointed a finger down to the ground. Zayln sighed, jumped to each bench until she finally got to the bottom. She looked around. “Where’s the ball?” Coach still didn’t say anything; he just pointed a finger at the corner of the gym floor. Finally he spoke, “You must run down the stairs, retrieve the ball, throw it to me, run back and just for you, run back up to the top of the benches; Ms. Zayln.” Zayln just stood there. “Your time starts now!” “What?! Oh jeez…” Zayln ran as fast as she could without using her abilities. Rosalinda was on the bench watching wearily as Zayln ran. Zayln’s breathing got hard and fast about half way to her destination. She had a flashback of when she was chasing a wolf-man down a street and how close she was to him, so close she could have caught him if he didn’t all of a sudden use his speed. She shook her head at the thought. ‘We caught him later on anyways, so don’t let it get on your nerves.’ But that didn’t help the fact that she felt her blades emerging from her knuckles. Rosalinda started to see something thin and shiny peak out from under Zayln’s long-sleeved sweatshirt. She looked around to see if anyone could see them, but no reactions came to view. She sighed with relief when she saw Zayln calm herself down; her blades slinking back to their place. ‘I wonder why she got mad. Well the coach did get on her nerves. She usually only gave the teacher a look, not talk back. I’m thinking this is gonna be our least favorite class.’ Rosalinda thought. Zayln reached the ball. She grabbed it and threw it has hard as she can at Coach. She pictured a target right on his gut. She smiled slyly and started to run back. So far only 20 seconds have passed. The gym wasn’t as big as you thought. She reached the stairs and she saw the Coach looking at the football in his hands with shock, as if he didn’t think she could have thrown it from that far right into his hands. She laughed to herself, and when she finally reached the top of the benches she plopped down, exhausted. She kept breathing hard while the coach talked, this time without a booming voice. “Uh….well….um…..good job….. Mrs. Zayln. Where’d you learn to throw like that?” he asked. Zayln just shrugged still breathless. “Well anyways your time was 30 seconds, the second best record from over the 2 years I’ve been working here.” He said, still looking at his stopwatch with astonishment spread across his face. She just smiled and pulled a water bottle from her bag. When the Coach left to go insert the attendance into the computer in another room, everyone turned around and looked at Zayln. She looked up from the floor and said, “What?” A boy with light brown hair spoke, “No one has ever talked back to Coach.” he said. He was probably not a freshman. “Don’t you all stand up for yourselves?” All the kids shook their heads. The boy spoke up again, “Not with him at least. He used to be a General; but since he got injured he retired.” He looked towards the door Coach walked through, as if he was gonna come back and make him do push-ups until he collapsed. Once everyone stopped looking at Zayln, she went back to her novel. Xavier watched her from the shadows wearily, watching how she turned the pages, how her hair fell from her ponytail into her face. “What are you reading?” He asked. Zayln jumped a little at the sudden question that broke the precious silence. “Uh……Eternal by Cynthia Leitich Smith.” Zayln mumbled, looking back at the crammed up words on the pages. “You like reading?” Xavier said, trying to start some kind of conversation. Zayln shrugged, “It just passes time.” She said, not looking up from her book. Rosalinda over heard their conversation. “She’s lying she reads anytime she’s not doing anything, even in class when she hasn’t finished her work.” She said, Zayln forgot that she moved closer to her, Matt followed. Zayln kept looking down at her book, her cheeks getting hot. “No,” she snapped back looking up from her book, “I finish those tests.” Matt and Xavier chuckled. Matt gave his brother a look, as if he wanted him to take a leap of faith. Xavier swallowed, and looked back at his brother. He shook his head at him. Matt urged again. “Uh…..hey girls if you….need help on any of your assignments we can have a study group thing at the library after school.” Xavier said, shrugging his shoulders. Matt nodded, giving him a thumbs up behind the girls back. Xavier rolled his eyes. “Z, put the book away!” “Huh?” Zayln said, looking up as Rosalinda as if she caused a crime. “Hand over the book.” Rosalinda said, reaching her hand out. Zayln looked at the book, then back at Rosalinda. Rosalinda urged her again to hand over the book. Zayln sighed and slapped the book into her hands. “Sheesh Z, your gonna become a book worm if you ever read another book! Tell me how many times have you read this book?” Rosalinda asked, raising an eyebrow. Zayln played with her fingers, as if it felt awkward without a book in her hand. “5 times.” She mumbled. Rosalinda rolled her eyes groaning. She all of a sudden changed the topic. “Where did you learn how to throw like that?” Zayln once again shrugged at the question, “I asked one of….my uh…..friends to throw a ball around when I was 10, and I just got good over time.” She said. Rosalinda knew what Zayln meant by “friends”. The agents had to entertain their bored selves somehow and the only thing they said we could do was exercise, which means throwing a ball around. Rosalinda never did, the agents actually let her play her instruments and learn her languages. Zayln had already done all her things, she was a smart girl. She just has to work on her attitude and anger problems, of course so did Rosalinda. “So…..you gave Coach quite a shock, want to let us in on your little secret?” Xavier said, wiggling his eyebrows. Zayln giggled softly, “I’m just….defensive that’s all. I like to stand up for myself and others; and what Coach does to all of you is not in my book.” She said. Matt and Xavier nodded. Coach slipped around the corner, “Alright rats, to the track for laps!” Everyone groaned, while Zayln and Rosalinda just rolled their eyes. Once everyone got to the track and waited for the coach to get there. When he turned the corner, Zayln and Rosalinda looked at each other, for they noticed that Coach had a little bit of a limp. After about two laps everyone had given up on running and was basically pretending to run. Zalyn and Rosalinda were running at about half their normal speed. The only other people who were running behind were Xavier and Matt.
When everybody finally finished Zayln and the Coach exchanged glances and Coach yelled, “Zayln Callahan! You get 10 more excersies added to your sets now get working!” Zayln growled even louder and all the guys backed away from her. “Eh? Only ten, Sergeant? Are you losing your touch?” Rain popped up out of nowhere behind him. “Rain, we shouldn’t be bothering them.” Kazuma said in his usual annoying, Mr. Perfect tone. Rain’s eyes rolled around and the Coach said, “Watashiba, you managed to pass my class. Why are you back?” “I wanted to see how my friends were doing. Why is that a bad thing? Or do you not want to see your least favorite student ever again?” “Watashiba!” “What?” Coach and Rain stared at each other for a minute while Kazuma walked over to Xavier and Matt who were standing near Zayln and Rosalinda. “What is with that relationship?” “They have been like that ever since Am… Rain joined his class and made his life into… excuse my language…. Hell.” “Oi, Hananori if you’re going to swear don’t say ‘excuse my language’. It makes it so totally useless.” Rain went up to Kazuma’s face and stared into his eyes evilly. Rosalinda felt something within her body. Heat and passion filled her so fast that she started to choke. Zayln went to help her but Matt got there first. “Are you okay, Rosalinda?” Rosalinda looked up in his eyes and once again felt the heat and passion rush through her as she thought about it again. “Sergeant, we’ll take her to the bathroom but she’ll be better by the time you play the game.” Coach looked at her and saw her caring and not-wanting to lose eyes. “Fine, go ahead.” “Z, lets go.” They walked to the bathroom in the gym and Rain slammed Rosalinda into the wall. “Rain!?” Zayln yelled. “You stay outside and guard. Don’t let anyone in here got it!” Rain said with her voice being strained. Zayln hesitated but nodded and walked out closing the door and putting her leg up on the door looking like a bodyguard. “Rosalinda Delgado! Tell me you don’t have empathy ability. Answer me truthfully and I won’t hurt you anymore then necessary.” “Yes I do.” “Let me guess you know I like Kazuma Hananori right?” “Kinda. It was a lot of heat but mostly passion coming from you. I ended up being exhausted from it before it became vision. Besides you wouldn’t hurt me. I’m an ally for you. That’s what your heart thinks.” “Rosalinda Delgado, Let me warn you I don’t think what I heart thinks, I think that if you don’t keep this a secret then I really will hurt you no matter what.” Rain let go of Rosalinda and then walked out. “Is everything okay?” Matt asked when the class came back from the track. Rain just kept walking and went to the wall to watch the game Coach put together. Rosalinda followed behind wearily, as if she was avoiding Rain. Zayln was the last to come out, noticing that nobody said anything. “Uh….yeah, everything is ok. Rosalinda was just having a hard time breathing from all the running. She breathed in wrong and needed some water. It’s happened to me once too. It’s completely normal.” Zayln said, messing with her sweatshirt. “Aren’t you hot in that thing?” Xavier said, coming up behind Matt. Zayln’s face felt hot. “Uh, yeah now that you mentioned it. It is kinda hot.” Zayln slipped off her sweatshirt and threw it with her bag against the wall. “Zayln!” Rain said urgently. Zayln turned around and saw Rain with a pissed off look pointing at the game. “I’m coming! Sheesh.” She turned back towards Matt and Xavier, laughing nervously, “Yeah I better go.” She said and turned around to jog towards the game. For now it was all girls playing flag football. Coach’s rules. Girls versus girls, then boys versus boys. Coach made Zayln a running back, giving her the right colored flag. Zayln got in her position when the first play was finished. She got good look at the girl that was her opponent. She was a big girl that was probably made for football. She was muscled, unlike Zayln. Zayln had muscle, just not a bulging point. Zayln felt bad for the boyfriend, if the girl had one. The girl spoke up, “You better be prepared for grass in your teeth, or a trip to the dentist. I’m gonna mess up that pretty little smile of yours.” The girl grumbled. Zayln looked disgusted, “Nice to meet you too.” She said with an attitude. Coach blew the whistle and all the girls pushed against each other while some of them tried running some yards to catch the football. The big girl that was with Zayln reacted late to throw Zayln off and pushed her to the ground. Zayln gasped in pain when her head hit the ground. Rosalinda ran over to Zayln, while Coach finally blew his whistle to stop the play. The big girl that pushed Zayln spoke up, “I told you so.” Then walked away. “Callahan, you alright?” Coach called, not moving from his position on the bench. “Z, can you hear me? How many fingers am I holding up?” Rosalinda held up fingers. Xavier and Matt showed up then. “Is she ok?” They both said at the same time. Zayln just tried keeping control of her anger, and trying to resist the sharp pain in her head. Rosalinda saw the little knives slinking through Zayln’s skin. She covered Zayln’s hands, and kept talking to Zayln. “Z?!” Zayln finally got a hold of her anger, and spoke. “Sheesh, you all worry too much.” She sat up, but put a hand to her head when she felt dizzy. Rosalinda laughed nervously. “You scared me Z!” Zayln smirked, “Sorry.” “Come on let’s get you up.” Xavier said, lending Zayln a hand. Zayln grabbed it and got up. “Woah, dizzy.” Zayln said, fumbling a little. “You need to go the nurse?” Matt asked. “No, it’ll go away soon. Can I still play?” Xavier and Matt dropped their jaws, “Are you insane?!” Zayln smirked, “Partly yeah.” “Callahan, can you walk?” Coach called form his place on the bench. “Yeah!” Zayln said, turning her head toward Coach. “Then get your bum over here!” He called with his booming voice. Zayln sighed, and walked to Coach. Zayln noticed that Rain didn’t move from her spot wither, but her face showed concern. Everyone was talking about her, some were laughing, and some just ignored her completely. “You alright?” Coach asked. “Why would you care?” Zayln said, crossing her arms. “Because if one of my students get’s injured and it was my fault then I would get fired.” Coach spat back. “Are you meaning to tell me that you put me with that bulldozer of a girl on purpose!?” Zayln yelled. Coach smirked,” Maybe, but you deserved it a little. It taught you a lesson.” Zayln scoffed, “And what might that lesson be?” “That your attitude can get you in serious trouble.” Zayln sighed at the comment, she knew Coach was right. “But that girl threatened me before I even said anything to her!” Zayln argued. Coach thought of this, “I’ll give her a talkin’ too, but still remember the lesson. I don’t feel like putting you in detention to right sentences about it. Now can you still play?” Zayln nodded. “Then go,” Coach ordered. “The next play starts in about a minute.” Zayln walked off to her friends. Xavier spoke first, “What did he say?” Zayln shook her head, “He put me with that girl on purpose! To teach me a lesson about my attitude. But that girl threatening me before I said one freakin’ word to her!” Zayln exclaimed. Xavier, “Well, that’s kinda harsh.” “Kinda!? That man is mad!” Zayln said. Rosalinda spoke up, “Well at least you didn’t have to go the hospital or anything.” “Thanks Rose.” Zayln said annoyed. Rain came up then, “Oh give the man a break, he was just teaching you a lesson that you should be following, or at least learned from!” “Yeah, by almost giving me a damn concussion!” “Language!” Rain exclaimed. Zayln rolled her eyes. Coach called for the game to begin. Zayln smirked slyly, “Gotta go teach someone else a lesson. Be right back” She said, making Rosalinda kinda freak out. Xavier was kinda freaked out to, “Is she always like that?” He asked Rosalinda and Rain. “Only when she’s pissed off.” They said together. Xavier nodded, still a little scared. Zayln got back to her running-back position. The “bulldozer” came back to hers. “Back for a second round little girl?” Zayln just stayed quiet, staring straight ahead of her; which was straight in the girl’s dark brown eyes. “Lesson number 1: Never underestimate “little people”.” Zayln growled. The girl looked confused and the whistle blew. Zayln reacted quickly by pushing the girl away from her and running straight for the goal line. The girl that was the quarter back saw Zayln close to the goal line and threw the ball at her. Zayln felt the ball in the air and coming towards her. She turned around just in time to catch the leather ball in her arms in the touchdown area. “Touchdown!” Coach’s booming voice called. Zayln was so tired she plopped on the floor laughing. Rosalinda caught up to her at the goal area and sat down next to her, “You sure showed that girl a lesson. Apparently she doesn’t like losing.” She said, pointing to the girl, sitting on the bench staring at Zayln while not listening to what Coach was saying. Zayln looked up and saw what Rosalinda was talking about. The girl was giving her the “death glare”. Zayln laughed nervously, still trying to catch her breath still. “Is it just me or at every school I make an enemy?” Rosalinda thought about that, “No you’re right.” Rosalinda said. Zayln pouted, “Thanks Rose I was hoping for a different answer.” Rosalinda smiled innocently, “Just saying the truth, Z.” Zayln giggled, and layed down on the ground, the ball still in her hands. “Tired.” Zayln sighed, closing her eyes. “Hey, Z. We got like fifteen minutes before the bell rings. “Wow seriously, all that drama didn’t let the boys play.” Zayln said, feeling a little guilty. “We’ll be able to play tomorrow.” Matt said, walking up with Xavier next to him. Xavier smiled, “Ya know this is the second time I’ve found you on the ground. Will this be an everyday thing?” He said to Zayln. Zayln laughed, “Darn I sure hope not. That would be embarrassing.” She said, getting up from the ground tossing the football to a nearby girl that was walking by. Xavier smiled too. Rain came up then and rushed everyone to get to their designated locker rooms to change before the bell rang.
In the girl’s locker room Zayln and Rosalinda were done changing out of their gym clothes and were putting their shoes on, sitting on a black iron bench. “I’ll be keeping my eyes on you Callahan. You got me in trouble with Coach.” The “bulldozer” said, standing in front of Zayln. Zayln looked up from tying her black sneakers. “You brought that amongst yourself chick.” Zayln said, grabbing her bag and walked towards the door, Rosalinda following close behind. “Just warning you that’ll I’ll be watching you pipsqueak.” The girl yelled so everyone in the locker room could hear. “Looking forward to it!” Zayln said, pushing the door open not looking behind her. “Z! Your gonna get yourself in trouble! Again!” Rosalinda said, her worried tone kicking in. Zayln sighed, “That’s not gonna happen Rose. Not if we are always with the Student Body Presidents. She can’t do crap if we are near them.” Rosalinda smiled, “Oh…..so you actually and finally came up with plan that will keep us out of trouble?” Zayln nodded, “Hey! I don’t always get in trouble!” Zayln argued. Rosalinda stopped walking, crossed her arms a raised an eyebrow at Zayln. Zayln stopped a gave in. “OK, so maybe I do. But my GPA always let’s me get in these schools.” Zayln admitted. Rosalinda considered, “True, but you still always get in trouble. But at least not as much as Rain does.” Zayln laughed, “You got that right. But I’m probably pretty close now.”
