How a person who's trying to let go of something but just can't just move on, feels.
What is a memory?
It was the place I used to call my haven
It was filled with uplifting emotion
Now I call it my nightmare
My painful torturer
My HELL

What is a memory?
It kills you without use of bullets or knives
You try to run but you just keep looking back
Back to your lost happiness
Back to when your heart would burst from joy
But now your head just wonders why you keep putting yourself through this pain
But your heart just dives in for more

What is a memory?
Maybe just a way of recalling the past
But to me it's a way to put salt in the bloody wound in my heart
I can't help but remember
But reliving only reminds you of what was lost
Of a time where you could once fly
But now they've torn your wings away and you just drop
Down, down, down
Wishing you would just crash and end your torment
And during your decent you can't help but wonder
What is a memory?
