You say shower. I say sanctuary
The water running down my face
Mixing in with my tears
I tilt my head back
Pushing my fingers through my hair
My eyes are closed
Slowly but clearly i begin my mantra
"Everything is fine"
"I am okay"
For a split second
Just for a moment
I let myself believe in the words
I tears draw to a stop
The water travels down
Along with my problems
Slithering down my body
Finally reaching the rim of the plug hole
Stopping
Like time has stood still
Wavering
Then collasping in the depth of darkness
I stand there
I don't move
I don't blink

Thump thump
The door knob rattles
Loudly
"Just a minute" I call out

The moment was gone just as quickly as it came
I step out
Wrapping my body in a towel
Shivering
Not from the cold
But from the prospect of stepping outside
The door
