the games we play

You look at me, but you don't see me
No emotion, only emptiness.
You hug me, but you don't feel it
No warmth, just an obligation.
I talk to you, but you don't hear me
No feedback, just routine.
You approach me, and I turn my back
No mercy, only resentment.

We meet eyes across the room
and we both smile.
What is this game we are playing?

You walk towards the door,
and I silently watch you go,
looking away as I sip my coffee.
No taste, only bitterness.
