patience and forgiveness...(the cycle)

Enchantment gleams about your face,
enticing the blank pages in my mind.
Expecting no promises, I open the book,
and you write a beautiful sonnet inside.

The fantasy lingers as I am beguiled
by flattering words. Toying with the innocent,
you uncover secret chambers that are better
left closed and hidden from your view.

Focusing on the quest, you charm the bees
and attempt to tame the wild. Holding no certainty,
I accept the road less traveled. Sincerity dances
provocatively in your eyes before plummeting to its death.

Consenting to no rules,
you disrupt volcanoes of emotion.
Bound and gagged with insecurity,
you cause heartache greater than your own.

Disregarding the sensitive,
brutal truth strikes from your mouth.
Understanding paves its way into my heart,
but I recoil in fear.

Forgiveness holds a special place for you
inside me, a place with no boundaries
or limitations. Hope rests beyond these
now tainted pages in my mind.

Mesmerized by this persona,
I continue to seek out its master.
Cautiously, I close the book and wait.
