Bitter Illusion

You live, hoping one day someone will notice how special you are.
You sing your pretty songs, and dance your little dance.
You live in the illusion that all are watching, yet hoping they don’t really see.
Because underneath are the ugly scars, hidden with the forbidden truth.
You escalated it, fed the ugliness with innocence.
How can you stop it now?
How can you dare?
Twisting and turning is all you know.
To stop and surrender is weakness…
But the real weakness bares itself in the need to press on,
walking in darkness, with no light, no plan.
You press on toward nothing, and stumble along the way.
Fall into your pit now,
and fall, fall…
