God's plan for our lives shown in the midst of tragedy.
Mama is Sleeping

“Mama is sleeping,
Just let her rest
She must be tired
So napping is best.”

“Wait a little…
She won’t sleep long,”
They never guessed
Something might be wrong.

He made their dinner
And tried once more,
They lay beside her
On the floor.

On the pallet
They slept all night,
The neighbor knocked
At morning’s light.

“We can’t wake Mama-
Can you try?”
“She won’t wake up…
Why, oh, why?”

The neighbor called
For an ambulance,
Hoping there might be
Some little chance.

The sirens screamed
Right to their door,
Some people came
Then there were more.

“Where’s Mama going?”
She asked in fear,
She wanted to keep
Her Mama near.

They took Mama away
And brought her in
She never saw
Her Mama, again.

Frantically, she cried,
Searching each day,
Waiting for Mama
To come and play.

Unable to grasp
Or understand,
Mama had taken
The Master’s hand.

She had gone on to Heaven,
God needed her there,
That beautiful Mama,
A gem so rare.

What of the children
That she left behind?
God sent them an angel
So loving and kind.

She raised them with love
Each passing day,
And if they needed a hug
In her arms they would lay.

Two different mothers
No way to compare
Each one a blessing
An answer to prayer.

God, with His plan
And His arms to embrace,
Allowed no more pain
Than the family could face.
