This was written in memory of a friend killed in a car crash caused by a drunk driver.

God's New Angel

I took away a girl today,
So young, so sweet, so true.
A beauty richer than the stars-
A diamond shining through.

Sparkling like the wine she drank,
She seeped into your blood-
Intoxicating everyone
As deeply as she could.

She drew you in with rope of love,
Like the web a spider spun;
She took your heart and melted it
Like ice beneath midday sun.

So now that I have taken her,
An angel she will be.
Her body long since burnt away-
But her spirit still flies free.
