The light at the end of the darkness--Death! (A Broken Heart Poetry Contest)
UNWANTED

Standing in the middle of nowhere
Right here, where you left me, on my own
Whatever I do, you never care
You despise no one but me alone

Crying in the middle of thinking
Asking myself questions, how and why
I'm simply a child who knows nothing
I never could have known she would die

Please, forgive me, for I have been born
I lived but in exchange for her life
No wonder you treated me with scorn
Father! Oh, father... she was your wife

Starving in the middle of nowhere
Hours, days, and weeks have passed since you left
I'm out here suffering in despair
All the hopes for survival-- bereft

Smiling in the middle of praying
I shall say goodbye now; I'm fearless
After so long, I'll see light shining
No more plunging into the darkness
