Michelle? No disrespect,
it just seems like I know you although we never met.
I mean, it feels like I owe you so I'm paying my respect.
I want to thank you for being who you are
because when I look at you I see me
and realize who I can be

You are so strong and beautiful,
black and proud, just love outloud
and I'm feeling that.
Influential and educated, patient and dedicated
Highly qualified to have the President's back.

I love you for knowing him before we did
and for bearing such well mannered kids.
For seeing in him along time ago
the man we're just getting to know.

Thanks for giving us something to look forward to
making us feel like we have something to do
because something has to be done.
Thank you for being the one that he chose, cause lord knows
it takes a strong union to do what you guys are doing

You are proof that being strong is not wrong
as you stand beside him without stepping on his toes
Exposing the truth that 'black love' can work
head over heels in love and it shows

Thank you for lending him to us for the next 8 years
I know that it's going to be hard,
with all the scrutiny and blame, stress and the pain
Involved in your husbands job.

You make me want to become a better woman, mother and lover
While the President inspires the black man to be a better brother.
Change takes time but its on it's way
we got a new since of freedom starting today
