What I feel when I walk through the woods.
Ode to Nature

walking, wandering where
life abounds
close your eyes, concentrate
on the deep forest’s sounds

fox kits are playing
tiny yips and barks
bunnies rustle through the leaves
so small they leave no marks

peek into the clearing
a wandering doe and fawn
if I return in early morn'
they’ll be here just 'round dawn

ramble along through majestic trees
hick'ry, maple, and the stately oak
I lean ‘gainst one, feel it rough
‘neath my cheek, give its bark a stroke

wander with me, follow my steps
through this enchanted land
see and smell and touch it all
then you will understand
