This is a reflection of a life spent trying to find the easy way out.
I always wanted the easy life
A shortcut is no crime
And so I decided the easy way out
Was the way I would choose every time

But a shortcut when driving to dinner
Can in no way compare
To the training it takes for a winner
The price is not the same fare

The work that you give from your heart
Will pay you ten fold in the end
An instant of gratification
Can never give back what you spend

When you realize that your resistance
Created this painful existence
You can then turn the downward spiral
Towards an upward direction and distance

It’s sad that you didn’t know it
But now that you know and it’s plain
Everyday spent in paradise
Can heal several of days of pain

And so if you’ve made the mistake
Of thinking you’re fast and your slick
The laws of nature will catch you
And they won’t let your false progress stick

You may have fooled some and even yourself
But before it’s way too late
You can always back up and start over
That’s what makes every new day is so great!
