Something that happened between me and my boyfriend at my friend's birthday. Very sad.
Amongst the breathing and the sniffles,
The twitchers and mumblers,
I lie, sighing my only motion, counting the cracks in the ceiling and acting as though
I’m contended with playing dead.
What else am I left to do with such thoughts
But to make friendly shapes in the spaces of the trees,
Between the orange of the sky and the greasy silhouette of natural fencing I had previously found comforting-

Guarded yet lonely;
Dazed and yet present.

Eyes plagued in the sadness of truth, ignoring the television-
Entertaining itself and pretending that the lives, insignificant in their dreamland, will continue as normal.
Once the sun rises, the day begins as usual,
It won’t stop as a favour to aid you and hide what you can’t help but mourn.

Heart pounding,
Cries now sounding-

Sometimes the truth is better left uncovered
To save yourself from the binding emotional build up that took you to this stage.
Where the world will sing, where the world will ring,

Resonating,
Echoing

The guilt you feel.
Because you just can’t
Shake the thought
That it’s

All

Your

Fault

That he feels this way.
