A poem about my memories as a child
Hours of fun
That lasted for days
Playing Princesses
And witches
And all the things that little girls do.

Nothing to worry about
except having the right toys.
No boy troubles
or friend problems
no big choices
or independence.

Where the only drama in your life
was in the stories you had read to you
or in the T.V. shows you watched
and the times it was okay to cry
in front of everyone.

A time when the world
was a new adventure
waiting to be explored.
A time when there was no knowledge
or war and such like.

Going to school was a joyous thing
a time for socialising,
learning exciting new things
no stress of rumours
or exams.

Just you and your friends.

Moving up to big school
you felt important
like an adult
though you're so far off,
they can't help but laugh.

All the new surroundings
they amaze you.
You stare at the buildings
that will protect you for the next 4-7 years.

You get that feeling,
the one that starts in you stomach
and makes you all jittery inside.

Those are the wonder years.

Before the drama
and the tears
the sleepless nights
and countless fears.

Let's praise the years
where we didn't have to worry
and the dreams of being
a superhero.

Remember those years
and stay young as long as you can
