[I have known them all already, known the mornings, evenings, afternoons]
Before You

I have known them all already,
Known the mornings, evenings, afternoons.
I have known the dusk, the dawn-
My life's been measured in coffee spoons.

And the afternoon, the evening, sleeps so peacefully!
Asleep, exhausted, shadows stretch out on the floor,
Here beside you and me the shadows crawl,
Watching as in my arms you find happiness to be more.

More than smiles and laughter you find,
More than presents and gilded packages.
Here is a joy that leaves all other joys behind,
For true happiness is here, in each others arms.

With you I've known the scent of midnight,
Tasted the first rays of the breaking dawn,
Felt the shadows stretching long and thin before us,
And in all that we've seen, felt naught but delight.

I have seen the light which dances on waves,
Touched the froth of the Gods' wrath on the ocean's edge.
I have felt the wind beating my skin rosy,
And yet, knew none of it if I knew it not with you.

I have known them all already,
Known the mornings, evenings, afternoons.
I've tasted falling dusk and listened to the song of breaking dawn,
But without you here beside me, until now I've been senseless.

I've been deaf to the crashing of the ocean waves,
Blind to the first rays of morning touching mountaintops.
I was numb to the touch of darkness on my moonlit flesh,
And smelt not the shadows, nor heard the dawn break.

Until now, I've been senseless and stupid,
Never knowing the pureness of love, nor happiness.
And here in your arms, I find the answers to it all-
Here in your arms, in your love, I come alive.
