I'm a Jersey native, bred and born. I've seen the dregs of our life here head on.
Ominous darkness subsides
A petrified, misty fog engulfs the night
Visually deploring our neurosis
Like a laid back hippie in a bureaucratic subway station

The rusty muffler beckons for a tune up
Audible gauntness in its yearning wheezes
Albeit it was repaired this morning
Pessimistic spices into my sauce of sanity

The rankling scent of lofting gas
Twenty minutes backed up on the bridge
Apathetic enmity perceptible in the salty winds
Interminable honks, words unrepeatable
I must be nearing home

Chevy conceals the tarry dregs of pavement
Neglected grass condemns my steps to divorce
Lady Satan jettisons musty cedar aside, larvae scamper
Where have I been? Can't you tell?
I've been in the couch all along

Attempt to see beyond loitering gray repugnance
Crusty lashes bat uncontrollably in naïve disdain
The raging demons in me cannot succumb to optimism
It just digests without condolences in a jaded stomach
Like every other health food I've eaten
