This is a new piece that I'm working on for a reading. Any comments would be great!
Walking these new familiar streets already on autopilot
Caught for some adventure I’m stuck again in the uncomfortable limbo.
All that hot air that kept me going, kept me afloat- plumed
Now expended and hanging in the air, a stale fume of expectation.
To shake off this useless lethargy will take some work
I’m a well practiced procrastinator
I can convince myself that I’m on course:
A monologue holding my skull out for inspection
Me, the audience weeping with admiration
I must get my autograph after the performance!
Dormant..this latent talent
All Houdini...stage smoke and mist
I must have missed the point,
And the punch line arrived just that bit too late.
I’ll pretend I got it though,
Hopefully laughing at the right moments.
