The Lost One

Relieved of the present
Slipping back to a warmth
Lost from the cold harsh edges
Found safe within a strong embrace

Whispers carried across eternity
Left breathless on tender skin
Hearts racing to a call lost
Somewhere in forgotten pages

Searching through heavy mists
A glimpse through the shadows
Teasing, twisting, and turning
Just outside of reach

A piercing glance that captures
And holds with smothering bonds
A quick brush light as a butterfly’s kiss
And fades into memory again
