Apoem about a woman's desire to be in a loving relationship.
Everywhere I go,
Everywhere I look,
There they are.
In the mall,
At the restaurants,
The zoo, museums too.
Walking in the park, holding hands,
At the movies and plays I attend,
Parties, dances and nightclubs,
On every pew at church,
And walking through the neighborhood.
In the grocery store,airports,
In the elevator, in hotels where I lodge,
In cars on busy streets as I drive around,
Everywhere I go, they seem to pass me by.
I look, I sigh, I try not to stare,
I hold my head up high and pretend not to care.
Deep in my heart a pain resides,
I think, I question, I wonder why.
Why can't I be just like them?
Why can't I find someone like him?
What's wrong with me?
Why can't I be,
Just like them,
A couple.
