About first true love, and the battles it faces with distance, and wrong timing.
our time was once precious, remember when
emotions felt, and could be seen by all
happiness was ours, to have and to hold
but the month passed, the clock rang loud

everything we had put in, and lived for
was set aside, draining through absence
until we felt nothing could be repaired
and that nothing was the best something

our hearts left limp on life's meat hook
irreparable if never to be conjoined again
but still we try, to feel whole once more
incomparable, simply out of desperation

then tires screech to a halt, in the early
the cycle to begin again, we're both alive
it chills to the bone, feelings still strong
both grown, but with preserved innocence

days feel like hours, hours as minutes
talking so slow, yet to everyone quick
not enough time to say everything needed
night closes in, and our hooks rise again
