this poem is an ode to the holiday season
outside the halls
children carol
loving life
laughing merry
inside this space
we light the fire
burning chestnuts
as flames leap higher.

outside the halls
santa's coming
stores start to open
mothers are running
picking out pretties
from sons to their mothers
purchasing dreams
for sons and for daughters.

but inside the halls
we go merrily singing
decking the halls
while the sleighbells are ringing
and up on the roof
we hear santa afoot
bringing along his large sack of dreams
and his reindeer are lowing
while he's quietly going
to places much farther away, away.
to places much farther away.
