this is a poem about my mother and her drinking habits
Cabernet

Sweet mother of mine
Go on drink another glass of wine
Make it red wine
Cabernet perhaps

Why don’t you drink another glass?
Consume your soul
Drink another bottle
Let your self go

Empty bottles on your floor
Eviction notice still on your door
The walls are bare
As empty as you are

Drink another glass
We can pretend everything is fine
A glaze over your eye
Can you still see me?

Drink away your lies,
The one you love,
The memories

Asylum oh sanctuary!
Don’t let that bottle go
Or legitimacy will show

Demise all around
But you smile
And conceal yourself awhile

Mother of mine
Drink another glass of wine
As I cry
You fade out
