failing forward

one step forward a shadow fades
forms of future choices made

two steps forward in a gentle mist
opportunities blossom
from hopes nurturing kiss

the third step slides us
to the ground
a fortuitous error
a blessing found

a step thats missed
as we struggle to stand
reveals a path
not in our plans

no less rocky
with no less thorns
but this path
won't be traveled alone

what cant be seen
nor even heard
often lead us
to destiny's detours

the steps we take
back or forward
name us neither brave nor coward

it's standing frozen
refusing to choose
that will determine how much we loose
