a short poem
I am a drop of wild desert rain,
A tiny translucent dome of water,
Clinging to a speeding car window
Like life.

Inside a small girl watches intently.
I wonder what she must be thinking,
But as I slid downwards
towards the quenched earth,
towards the struggling roots of a desperate misquite tree,
I can no longer remember
