This is a poem about falling in between...
Somewhere In The Middle

No one understands you here;
no one tries to
Not one of the crowd,
but one they’d never follow
My heart lies here;
somewhere in the middle

Too impoverished to bump elbows with those elite
too polished to bump elbows with those slovenly
here I rest my head
somewhere in the middle
I wait to join the good fight
patiently for the perfect voice
through the perfect medium
but I encourage you to join me here
somewhere in the middle

In joy through a faultless speck of beauty
the agony of a single drop of rain
the simplicity of a birdsong
as the sun shines through the leaves to stroke
your kindly, absent smile like a loving
mother reaching into your crib
Where rainbows are the people who have the
rare courage to be so
rest beside me here,
somewhere in the middle

Where the scales of Balance
know no weight
and judgment is forgotten…
where the dogged steps of ignorance
can never again hinder you
I will make my way
somewhere in the middle
