I went to visit Serpent's Mound in southern OH and I was inspired to write this poem.
A smooth path underneath my feet
A soft blue sky above my head
Littered with pearl colored clouds

The mound to my left
Beneath, the bones of ones who came before
A whispering wind flowing through the leaves
All is peaceful

Flutes
The eerie sound of flutes stops me
The sound,
The mystical melody is coming from the mound
Reaching out to me
From another time, another place

“I can hear you” I whisper
The melody fades into the wind
Into a void of eternity
