Mothers and daughters who have a tough relationship can relate to this.
I use to remember you as the one who wiped the tears from my eyes,
The one who mended my tiny, shattered heart,
The one who kissed my scarps and bruises.

But now…….
I can barely remember those days.

Now instead of you wiping away my tears,
You cause them to be there.

Now instead of you mending my tiny shattered heart,
You cause it to break.

Now instead of you mending my kissing my wounds,
The lonely wind of this world does.

I miss those days,
I miss them more than anyone or anything.

The days when my mother…….. my mother remembered me,
The days when she walked hand in hand with me,
The days when we were still mother and daughter.

Now it seems as if I am a stranger in my own home,
As if I have no mother.

In her place stands a governess,
One that takes care of me because she has too.

Not because she loves to,
Or……… loves me.

I miss the warm embraces,
The encouraging words,
The smilioes that got me through the darkest of my days.

It feels not like I’ve only lost a mother,
But a just and loyal friend,
Like no other that can be found.

She’s physically alive,
I see her earthly image.

But not her,
The real her.

The one who……. the one who use to wipe the stinging tears from my eyes,
The one who mended my tiny, shattered heart,
The one who kissed my scraped knees and bruised elbows.

That is my mother,
The real one,
The one who I love and remember.
