A poem about a dark period in my life.
I’m not shattered,
I’m not broken;
Have my tears deceived you?
I accept my irrational fears,
They have supported me
Throughout my childhood years.
You wouldn’t understand;
You never had to.

I’m not lost,
I’m not broken,
Has my path deceived you?
I travel the grounds of severed souls
For I revel in finding a place unknown.
You wouldn’t understand;
You never had to.

I’m not torn,
I’m not broken;
Has my anger deceived you?
I resist in all you do
Because I know what you have done,
I refuse to hold back my aggression
Because I hate that you have won.
You wouldn’t understand;
You never had to.

Can you see my broken insides,
However, sewn tight together
With you’re needle and apathetic lies?
I pray you die inside at last;
Mirror me and my past
Then maybe you’ll understand
What you never had to.
