Add a little country twang to your inner voice as you read...should help.
Restless Man

I was raised up in the Heartland breakin’ colts and broncin’ bucks
All throughout the Midwest, a man without good luck
Then one fine day I met a gal who took a fancy to me
We settled down and bought the farm, now corn is all I see.

By the time that I hit thirty, I was restless as a bear
Workin’ on that danged ole farm and pullin’ out grey hair
I kissed my wife and pet the dog then threw the chicken seed
Walked out the door and down the drive sayin’ “don’t wait up for me”

I went down to the pawnshop, found an ax for twenty bucks
I started walkin’ southward and hitching rides with trucks
Til I found myself on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee
I said “thank the lord them highway miles was getting old to me.
**
I started playing on the street and working into clubs
I stayed away from alcohol, loose women, and most drugs
Til I finally found my fortune and I earned it musically
Now these smoky clubs are getting old to me
**
Then one night I met a kid with with a six-string like my own
He was playing on the street, like I did when I was young
I gave him every cent I had, said “get a room on me”
It’s all yours now, I can’t stand this town, and I miss my family.

**And that same old story’s getting old to me
That same old story’s getting old to me, yeah me
Everytime I look around  smoke & drunks (city streets)__ is all I see
And that(this)same old story’s getting old to me.
