A short little balad that came to me one day
Widowed

An infants wail pierces the night
The stars shine up above
A group of travelers start in fright
It's found and swaddled in love

As the Irish years come and go
The child becomes of age
Settled down on the valley low
She's surrounded by violet sage

One morning a handsome man came
Blonde haired and blue eyed in start contrast
To this brown eyed black haired dame
Yet he bound her finger and married her fast

He was a man married to the sea
His first and last true love
For when this love closed over he
Quickly sailed to above

From child to dame now on to widow
She was helped from the village around
But she showed to early around her middle
And quickly became just as unfound

They cast her out and left her for dead
Where she and no one were likely to meet
She has her baby in a pool of red
And so the cycle begins to repeat
