A little girl learns of her father's death.
My voice has suddenly gone—
Too parched to beat

Out the war drum words,
“Your daddy is dead.”

A gun to his head
In the desert heat.

My own voice has been
Washed with sand.

But in his daughter’s eyes
I see his death,

His last breath.
